Candace Cameron Bure has grown up since her time starring on the hit American sitcom Full House. Did you know that she writes books now? Did you know she married a Russian hockey player? Did you know that they wrestle for family dominance and apparently she lets him win?
Here is an excerpt from Mrs. Cameron Bure’s new book Balancing It All: My Story of Juggling, Priorities, and A Porpoise:
I am not a passive person, but I chose to fall into a more submissive role in our relationship because I wanted to do everything in my power to make my marriage and family work, which of course means letting men win at everything even when you’re clearly right about the subject or better at the task.
This is why, when we are doing our regular Tuesday Greco-Roman wrestling matches, I will let Val win every time. He tosses me around, pins me like a hunted animal, and after we’re hot and the hormones are kicking up a storm, we get into some Bible verses while Val punches holes in the wall.
She went on to clarify her position: “The definition I’m using with the word ‘submissive’ is the biblical definition,” she said. “It’s not meekness, it’s not weakness; it’s just letting your husband win at everything, including the Greco-Roman wrestling he insists upon every Tuesday night.”
What a stark contrast from her performance as Uncle Jesse.
